🌿 Heritage Park:
The Heart of Farmington Hills for Families
Discover why Heritage Park in Farmington Hills is a local favorite for young families from the trails and splash pad to family photo tips and hidden gems only locals know. Perfect for your next family adventure or photo session!
🍂 A Saturday at Heritage Park
If you live anywhere near Farmington Hills, you’ve probably spent a sunny weekend at Heritage Park. Maybe your kids ran through the splash pad, picked up pinecones along the trails, or begged for “just five more minutes” at the playground.
This park isn’t just a park it’s where so many of our family stories quietly unfold. The summer concerts, the sledding hill, the trails that smell like pine after a rain… it’s a local favorite for a reason.
There’s space to breathe, space to play, and space to actually see your kids be kids.
🌞 Why Families Love It Here
-
Playgrounds for every age. Even toddlers can explore safely while big kids climb and slide nearby.
-
Splash pad summers. Bring towels, snacks, and extra clothes no one leaves dry, and that’s the point.
-
Wide open fields. Perfect for frisbees, kites, or spontaneous soccer games.
-
Nature trails & the Nature Center. Teach your kids about the wildlife right in your backyard.
-
Seasonal magic. Fall leaves, winter sledding, spring blooms every season tells a different story here.
It’s family-friendly without feeling crowded or commercial. You can still find quiet corners for a picnic or a photo session that doesn’t feel staged.
📸 My Best Advice for Family Photos with Young Kids
The best sessions with toddlers are the ones that let them be completely themselves. Forget “sit still” or “say cheese” the magic happens when you meet them in their world.
Here’s my best advice after years of photographing little ones (and raising three of my own):
-
Let your child lead the way. Toddlers have their own rhythm. If they want to explore or show you something, follow their lead that’s when the real smiles show up.
-
Be prepared to go with the flow. Toddlers almost never listen for an hour straight, and that’s okay. We’ll roll with it, take breaks, and keep things light.
-
Let them come to you. The sweetest moments are usually when kids wander off, then run back for a hug or giggle.
-
Let them roam and be adventurous. Heritage Park has so much room to explore trails, open grass, and hidden corners perfect for storytelling.
-
Be playful and act like I’m not even there. Tickle fights, chasing games, messy cuddles that’s what makes photos feel like your family.
-
Timing matters. Choose a time you know your toddler will most likely be in a good mood. I’m always happy to help families plan around naps, dinner, and the best light of the day.
You don’t need perfection just presence. Let your child be who they are, and I’ll take care of the rest.
🕊️ A Hidden Gem for Everyday Families
Heritage Park is beautiful for more than photos it’s the kind of place where family traditions begin. You come once for the playground, and before you know it, you’ve celebrated birthdays here, shared picnics, and taken your holiday photos on that same winding trail.
Even if you’re not planning a photo session right now, this is your reminder: bring your camera, or better yet, be in the photos. Let someone else capture you together. You’ll never regret it.
💌 Thinking About Family Photos?
If your kids love Heritage Park, it’s one of my favorite places to photograph families natural light, open spaces, and plenty of room for kids to be themselves.
Whether it’s a quick seasonal mini or a storytelling family film, I help families turn days like this into keepsakes that actually feel like you.
“Parenthood isn’t perfect. But it’s worth remembering every messy, beautiful second.”
